The Cancer Corner

Here we will discuss all things cancer. From prevention to treatment, we will post absolutely every resource we have found to be effective.

*Disclaimer* I am not a doctor and if chemo seems right for you that is your God given right to choose! Everything posted has been tried/used or considered by Michael.

1. Let's start with links. The first resource for you that I have is http://www.inspirehealth.ca/. This organization is based in British Columbia, Canada and is the only cancer support center that is recognized by both the holistic and traditional medical communities. They used to charge a hefty fee for a year long membership, but recently they have become COMPLETELY FREE to all cancer patients and support persons!!! I enjoyed meeting other patients for the first time. We talked stuff out and it was really freeing. They offer so much more than just support though, check it out! They have a free gym on site too.

3. http://phoenixtears.ca/ This link is to a site that at first seemed a little suspect as it was SO cheap looking haha. The site has been reformatted a little and is only for informational purposes. Rick Simpson is a bit of a pioneer for hemp oil. He has a long and interesting story and I'd suggest googling it for yourself! For the first year of alternate treatment, the ONLY thing I tried was the hemp oil (along with lots of prayer and healthy living) and both of my oncologists keep telling me whatever I'm doing keep doing it! I have no clue if it is the source of what is keeping me strong, but it doesn't hurt to try!

2. This next resource has been an incredible source of information for us. http://thetruthaboutcancer.com/ is full of trained medical professionals who have more or less renounced conventional methods...after having been involved in them for numerous years first. They all seem to have the same attitude about it and it was very reassuring to watch the videos. I am fairly certain the many hours of documentary footage do cost a bit of money, but it all goes to WORTHY cancer research (no admin fees and so on and so forth). What I gleaned from the 11 hours of footage was a whole bunch of little pieces of the puzzle. Fighting cancer naturally takes a lot of strategy. There is no one thing that is going to do it. It is A LOT of little things...which can be frustrating to a big picture thinker like me.

4. This link is a very special one. http://www.lemmo.com/ Dr. Lemmo is my holistic oncologist. He is also an M.D. and quite reputable. What I love about him is, on our first visit he probed and prodded into all the details of my health for 2 hours! That is some commitment. He basically just got to know me. Since my cancer is in the liver now, i have some issues processing food in my system. Fibre is too difficult, so I have poor digestion. One visit with Dr. Lemmo and that issue was solved! Juicing is an incredible way to nourish yourself if you can't digest properly. My digestion is much better since adding carrot juice into my diet. I'm excited to move on to more nutrient dense juice! He also created a study on the effects of vitamin d on colon cancer patients. I've been taking 10000 units per day, as well as turmeric pills and fish oil. He gave me a couple of really great write ups on juicing and also kefir and I am waiting to hear if he is ok with me posting his work. I have not tried the kefir yet, so if you do let me know how it works out! If someone pointed this guy out to me a year ago, I may have already conquered it by now!

5. As mentioned in the donor section  www.beyonddiet.com is an incredible resource for healthy eating, which is integral whether you are doing conventional treatment or alternative. Though this is not a specific cancer resource, much of what they talk about ends up being cancer prevention anyway! For example, the red pigment in tomatoes (lycopene) has been shown to have properties that can actually fight colon cancer. I met a guest speaker once (a doctor) and he suggested eating a tablespoon of tomato paste per day. Why not!?

6. Our little facebook page has been an outlet for me to post thing's I've learned about cancer, recipes, exercise tips and business updates. Give it a look! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Angels-Food/822217757810652

7. There is no link for this one. Figure out what kind of activity you like. For me it's weight lifting. I love that pump you get when you work your muscles hard on a regular basis. Exercise is absolutely integral in cancer care and prevention. All of my resources concur, exercise is hated by cancer. Cancer does not like oxygen and oxygen enters the bloodstream when you exercise!!! KILL IT WITH....exercise? Inspire health did a study that showed patients undergoing chemo who exercise 3-5 hours a week have a MUCH lower rate of recurrence. Even if you are "healthy" exercise is ALWAYS a good thing.

8. For me, number 8 is number one. It is my spiritual health. Again, no link. This one is more of an abstract concept. I am a firm believer in jesus Christ. I believe he is going to heal me. I am not sorry if this offends you. Most cancer researchers will tell you that attitude and positivity are the MOST important part of cancer health. My faith helps me to exceed positivity. I am in a realm of positive thinking that you could not even IMAGINE!!!! Every person I see now, my first thought is (I wonder what they're going through?) My faith and this experience have taught me selflessness is key to positivity. Selfishness is destructive. When I allowed my thoughts to be "I have cancer, screw you all" that is how I felt...like I had cancer. Now I've learned to take control of my mind and bring it into a state of perpetual selflessness. I have not arrived, I still have MANY selfish moments, but this experience has taught me the importance of attitude. With that mindset, I honestly don't feel like I have cancer! And for any naysayers, I was the chief naysayer...until I proved myself wrong. I can honestly say it was because of my faith that I was able to achieve this.
